That Irish Stew Tho! The Irish stew in the menu looked fantastic and tasted even better! We are so happy we made it to this Irish pub during our visit! We want the recipe!! Highly recommend this to anybody traveling to Kilkenny!

Definitely Recommended My husband and I enjoyed this place so much that we went twice while on vacation. I enjoyed the shepherd's pie and the roast chicken while he had a chicken sandwich (we don't quite remember it) and a full Irish breakfast (at dinnertime). All of our food was fresh, well cooked, and tasty. The portions were very filling. Our waitstaff were always friendly. The location is very convenient to parking and shopping and is between the castle and St. Canice's.

Great Experience! We were a group of 15 family members who wandered into The Playwright mid afternoon for “one drink” on the way back to our hotel after a tour of Kilkenny Castle. A couple hours later, we were still there. What a blast! We met some fun locals and were well taken care of by The Playwright’s terrific staff - particularly the world’s greatest bartender, Tasha. She was instantly like a member of our family. What a gem!
